چکیده

Niigata West Coast faces the Sea of Japan and Sado Island is located approximately 45 km to west from there (Fig.1). This coast has suffered severe erosion since early 1950s. Hiyoriyamahama beach where a part highly erosive beach. For protection erosion, combined shore system with jetty, submerged wide breakwater nourishment have been constructed at There, strong winds NW WNW blow in winter season nourished sand blown off prevention sands beach, an attempt develop integrate for controlling wind-blown fences, green belt (an artificial low dune) vacancy space (road) made. To examine function under development, extensive field surveys topographical changes, wave runup on swash zone, wind site, waves conducted. The purpose this paper describe measurement results.

Electrostatics in wind-blown sand.

Wind-blown sand, or "saltation," is an important geological process, and the primary source of atmospheric mineral dust aerosols. Significant discrepancies exist between classical saltation theory and measurements. We show here that these discrepancies can be resolved by the inclusion of sand electrification in a physically based saltation model. Indeed, we find that electric forces enhance the...

Incident Angle of Saltating Particles in Wind-Blown Sand

Incident angle of saltating particles plays a very important role in aeolian events. In this paper, the incident angles of sand particles near the sand bed were measured in wind tunnel. It reveals that the incident angles range widely from 0° to 180° and thereby the means of angles are larger than published data. Surprisingly, it is found the proportion that angles of 5°-15° occupy is far below...

Blown by wind: nonlinear dynamics of aeolian sand ripples

A nonlinear continuum model is considered that describes the dynamics of two-dimensional aeolian sand ripples. This integro-differential model is based on a phenomenological approach due to Anderson. Linear stability analysis using this model shows that a flat sand bed exposed to the action of wind is linearly unstable to long-wavelength perturbations. As the ripples grow, nonlinear effects bec...

Electrification of wind-blown sand: recent advances and key issues.

In this paper, we summarize the recent advances on the electrification of wind-blown sand. Some of the outstanding questions, such as the interpretation of the electrification of wind-blown sand, measurements on and models of the features of the wind-blown sand E-fields, as well as their effect on the wind-blown sand flux and electromagnetic wave propagation, are reviewed. We end by highlightin...

Analysis of Wind-blown Sand Movement over Transverse Dunes

Wind-blown sand movement often occurs in a very complicated desert environment where sand dunes and ripples are the basic forms. However, most current studies on the theoretic and numerical models of wind-blown sand movement only consider ideal conditions such as steady wind velocity, flat sand surface, etc. In fact, the windward slope gradient plays a great role in the lift-off and sand partic...
